1.The Brief
It begins with your aspirations. You want a space to live in, work in or invest in. A space to support your daily routines and reflect who you are. The majority of our clients have moved from their country of origin and have settled in a new place. Our design services primarily cater to expats, and their desire to build a home in a foreign country. We incorporate inspiration from personal style, travel, and culture, to produce a home away from home.2. Scope and Cost
It usually starts with an initial phone call to understand what services you require from us. In addition, we might meet on site for a meet and greet. The in person meet and greet is important for us, as this way we get an “understanding” of each other. Thereafter, we send through a proposal of the scope of services we will perform and the cost of our services. Our services are divided in two parts: design services and project coordination services. In addition, we will try to give a rough idea of the project budget up front. The design and building process of one’s unique space is personal, so it is important that we are aligned. 3. Design
You provide us with a brief and inspiration images. We create concept ideas according to your wishes. Thereafter, you will receive drawings in two phases. Phase one involves a concept design pack with mood boards, 2d plans and 3d renders. Phase two results in a pack of drawings for costing / construction with layouts such as lighting, electrical, plumbing, floor finishes, wall finishes, furniture layouts and design details. All the information the contractor needs to build your project and suppliers need is shown on the drawings.4. Budget & Coordination
We work within an agreed project budget. We contact various suppliers and compile a total project budget with specifications. This helps ensure that the correct proportion of expenditure is spent on the valuable items. Some projects require coordination throughout the building process. We set out the budget, timeline and schedule for the project. We coordinate the site, the contractors, suppliers and some deliveries. Most importantly we coordinate the project to be on time and within budget.5. Construction
We go to the building site! This is the fun part, where you see your dream come to life! The construction process consists of; the demolition process. The raw building work such as walls up, electrical wiring, plumbing, underfloor heating. The first finishes such as tiling, bathroom fixtures, ceilings and plastering. The final finishes involve painting, the kitchen and cabinetry.
We visit the site at least once a week, depending on the demands of the project. We check the site progress and the building work according to the drawings. Please note that the above is a guideline of a project process. Each project is different, where the scope and process will be defined accordingly.
